In this project supported by the European Commission Robotics for Infrastructure Maintenance and Automation programme, the DrainBot system showed unmatched efficiency in removing sediment and maintaining drainage pipe status. While the efficiency seems to vary with the type and the age of sediment and the frequency of maintenance of each single segment of the pipe, our technology offers a long-lasting solution for tunnel operators to reduce locking times while keeping their drainage systems operating at the optimum of their efficiency.
